  • Hillsboro Emblem Club gives to BPOE

    The Hillsboro Emblem Club raises money throughout the year by selling refreshments at Monday night bingo. The club donates to charities throughout the community and give to the Elks Lodge for the use of their facility annually.
  • Events scheduled for Junior Fair
    The 4-H Style Revue will be held at the Highland County Fair of all the beautiful outfits that were made by the 4-Hers this year.  Everyone is welcome to attend this event which will be held in the Multi Purpose Building on Saturday, Sept. 4, at 1 p.m.

    The class of 1955 of McClain High School is getting together the second Thursday of each month at 11:30 a.m. at JJ's Pizza and Restaurant in Greenfield.

  • Hillsboro Swim Club hosts Help Me Grow
    Highland County Help Me Grow had a very nice field trip to the local Hillsboro Swimming Club on July 21. The children and parents were able to use the baby pool as well as the adult pool from 10 a.m.-noon. Many tried out the diving board and posed for a photograph.

  • Premier Showmen 4-H Club completes community projects
    The Premier Showmen 4-H Club recently completed its community service projects. One of its community service projects was to gather school supplies that are going to be donated to Samaritan Outreach Services.

    The Patri-Tots Learning Center will host an open house event from 3-7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 27, at the Central Campus location of Southern State Community College, 200 Hobart Drive, Hillsboro.

    This past week provided us with a mixed bag of weather conditions. Some areas in Highland County received some much-needed rain while others unfortunately received little to none. One thing that was consistent was fairly high temperatures. We certainly have had more days with temperatures exceeding 90 degrees this year when compared to 2009.
  • Enhanced Community Living services
    The Sunshine Band will provide musical entertainment prior to the luncheon. Following the meal Shelly Graeber and Dwight Smith from Western & Southern will present a free identity theft seminar. This fun interactive seminar will help show you ways to protect you identity. Dwight will tell you the different ways people get your identity, how they use it and what you need to do in order to correct things if you become a victim.
