Amato to host genealogy workshop

Natalie Goodrich Amato will hold a genealogy workshop Saturday, Oct. 6 from 1-4 p.m. at the Wayman Chapel AME Church located at 144 W. Pleasant Street, Hillsboro. The event is sponsored by the AARC of Highland County. Anyone interested in learning about family history is encouraged to attend.
Amato is a graduate of Hillsboro High School and received her bachelor's degree in music education from Wilmington College. She lives in Cincinnati with her husband, Steve, and son, Vito. Amato is a private piano instructor, an accompanist for prep students at the University of Cincinnati's Conservatory of Music and is the choir director at Dayspring Church in Forest Park.
In 2007, Amato had an article published in a quarterly of The Ohio Genealogy Society. This can be found in the Ohio Records and Pioneer Families, Volume XLVIII, Issue 4. It is entitled "Freedom Found in Ohio." Also in 2007, Amato compiled a book that is over 500 pages in length, "Through the Years: African-American Citizens of Highland County, Ohio," which can be found on the reference shelf in the Highland County Public Library.
