  • Winter: No retreat, no surrender

As a card-carrying RidgeRunner, I do not know the meaning of the word "quit." Well, technically, I do know what the word means. But you get my point.

  • Liberals furious over Obama's threat of executive orders
Many liberals, in recent responses to public criticism of Obama's executive order threat, are burning up the Internet in order to let me know how many times former liberal presidents like Bush I, Bush II, Nixon and Reagan (yes, even Reagan, my favorite president of the past 50 years, was a liberal on fiscal policy) signed executive orders.

  • Lawyers, guns and money (in no particular order)
I know of a number of local public officials who have concealed carry. Some of their spouses do as well. I doubt any of them would enjoy being part of such a database. (If any of them advise to the contrary, they are welcome to submit a letter to the editor.)

  • Parents understand
The courtroom testimony was, at times, heartbreaking for both families. Yet, both families remained civil and exercised proper restraints throughout the testimony. A few of the victim's family members did politely walk out during some rather graphic description of the crash aftermath by the defendant's attorney. That's understandable.

  • Suggested contribution$: Ju$t $end ca$h
Much like the Asian flu in late winter, I've always tried to avoid public office. (And yes, for those pedantic English majors out there, I did, indeed, intend to imply that the Asian flu has tried to avoid public office.)

  • Bury the Hatch

Moving forward, based on the decision of the local Republican Party leadership, Warner was appointed as sheriff. Barrera was not. The end result being that the latter had no other option but to resign from office despite a distinguished career in law enforcement of more than 20 years. That's wrong.

  • Let THEM eat cake; we must have our daily bread
Here in the Buckeye State we adhere to the Gospels of Matthew and Luke, specifically, the Our Father: Give us this day our daily bread…
