    Democrats could determine Republican primaries

    The "Old Hog Farmer" was often fond of telling me – in true Will Rogers fashion: "I don't belong to any organized political party, that's why I'm a Democrat." The late Professor Bill Horne would, I am quite certain, have an opinion on the rare opportunity that is awaiting Highland County Democrats on Tuesday, May 6.

    Unlike what a pampered few online bloggers who’ve never sustained lasting employment might have you believe, corporations are not bad things. In fact, by and large, they are very good things. They provide jobs to millions of Americans. They provide even more jobs to millions of non-Americans.

    Vacation and its consequences
    It absolutely never fails. I slip away for a few days of R&R for RR and all Hades breaks loose. In August 2005, it was Hurricane Katrina. Three years ago, it was a devastating tsunami in Japan. Another year it was a major earthquake in Haiti. This year, I go undercover for four days at Daytona Beach and the Russians invade Ukraine (again). To invoke the words of P.J. O'Rourke: "May bad news follow you around."

Another year it was a major earthquake in Haiti. This year, I go undercover for four days at Daytona Beach and the Russians invade Ukraine (again). To invoke the words of P.J. O'Rourke: "May bad news follow you around."

    Political poll includes two prominent Ohioans
    It's long been my standard practice when responding to these political polls, that I rotate each answer based on the most liberal perspective, followed by the most conservative reply. I like to think this adds to the polling's margin of error. We all should do our part, to be sure.

    Interesting, if divisive, days for the Ohio GOP
    Lastly, it also would be most professional if the local GOP would refrain from political endorsements in the May 6 primary. After all, as everyone knows, your candidates of choice already have a leg up, don't they?
