The following are the Hillsboro Police Reports for Nov. 6-8.

The Hillsboro City Council has voted to allow Hillsboro Mayor Dick Zink and Safety Service Director Ralph Holt to negotiate with the unions of the city's police and fire department, with health insurance options accepted by the city last week.
       During Holt's report to council during its Nov. 8 regular session he said that negotiations could not continue unless the city had insurance figures to offer. Last week, the city opened bids for health insurance, with only one acceptable bid available. In what the city called the "worst case scenario," the health insurance would be 19 percent more than last year, which is 9 percent more than what the city had budgeted for 2011. A health savings account option would be an increase of just over 17 percent.

Firefighters with Paint Creek Joint Fire and EMS battled a structure fire in the 700 block of Fifth Street into early Sunday morning.
 According to fire Chief Bradley George, the department received a call of a structure fire in a vacant home at approximately 10:42 p.m. Upon arrival to the scene it was determined that the fire had originated in the attic.

A Hillsboro pair whose rented home caught fire in September has been indicted of charges of first-degree felony manufacturing drugs and charges of endangering children.
 Casey Scarberry and David Bailey were indicted by a grand jury in Highland County Common Pleas Court last week, and each was arraigned Nov. 4 on four charges of endangering children, felonies of the third degree; and charges of illegal manufacture of drugs, felonies of the first degree.

Georgia's Bridal and Formal owners Scarlett and Dalton Thomas of Hillsboro donated several cedar trees to be planted around town and decorated for the holidays.

The following are the Hillsboro Police Reports for Nov. 5-7.

On Sunday, Nov. 7 at 9 p.m., Greenfield police officers executed a search warrant on a residence at 448 Evans St., Greenfield.

The Hillsboro Lions Club, with the assistance of two TimeWarner Cable trucks and technicians, were busy Sunday morning,

Highland County Common Pleas Court Judge Rocky Coss has ordered that the second trial for Wesley Coonrod be moved to Pickaway County. 

During a hearing held Nov. 5 in Highland County Common Pleas Court, defense attorney William Mooney asked that the court consider the venue change, saying that the amount of media attention the first trial received would make it difficult to seat a jury and difficult for Coonrod to have a fair second trial.

Mooney had made a similar motion prior to the first trial, which the court denied.
