The Hillsboro Police Department and  the Highland County Sheriff's Office responded to 142 South High Street in Hillsboro Saturday, Nov. 27 in order to locate a suspect wanted on warrants. Officers located Stanley J. Lamb, 27, of Lynchburg.

The holiday season officially rolled into town Saturday, as the annual Christmas parade marched, danced and trotted through the streets of Hillsboro.
 Sponsored by the Hillsboro Uptown Business Association, the parade was just a part of the day of events around the Highland County Courthouse Square, which also included activities such as a petting zoo and straw maze, sponsored by 4-H clubs of Highland County, in the former city safety building,
 The parade, which featured area fire departments, civic groups and students, was led by grand marshal Larry Dukes.

Auditor of State Mary Taylor has released a special audit investigation of the Morrow County Firefighters and Squadsmen Association, identifying $82,590 in findings for recovery against Robert Moore for unsupported payments for various accounting and tax-related services.

The Greenfield City Council has called a special meeting to discuss pending financial issues that were initially addressed at the Nov. 16 council meeting.
 The finance committee has twice met to find a more economical solution to a potential 44-percent increase to the city's health insurance premiums, including a meeting held Friday morning.

The Highland County Board of Commissioners approved a resolution for two part-time positions with the Department of Job and Family Services at their Nov. 24 commission meeting. Debbie Robbins, executive director of the Highland County Department of Job and Family Services, had requested two part-time positions, up to 30 hours per week for each position, at a rate of $10 per hour, up from $8.50 an hour.

The Hillsboro Uptown Business Associations will present the 2010 Hillsboro Christmas Parade Saturday Nov. 27 at 2 p.m.
  A free petting zoo will be behind the old fire station off Gov. Foraker Place, presented by Highland County Extension office & Highland County 4-H clubs. A straw maze will be presented by the Hillsboro FFA.

The city of Hillsboro has voted to accept a counterproposal from area townships for an 18-percent increase for fire services, with the condition EMS services be provided at no additional charge through 2011.
 During the 20-minute long special council meeting it was also decided to extend negotiations for wages and salaries for the Fraternal Order of Police and the International Association of Firefighters.

This Thanksgiving, the organizers and residents of the Highland County Homeless Shelter have one more reason to be thankful.
 The Ohio Department of Development has announced that the shelter is among 76 organizations that have received more than $20 million in grant funds from the Homeless Assistance Grant Program, with $53,200 going to the local shelter.

Highland County's unemployment rate is holding at 14.4 percent for the second month in a row.
 Ranked with the second highest rate in the state, behind Clinton County at 15.8 percent, Highland County's jobless rate had been on decline in recent months, but according to numbers released Tuesday by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services for the month of October, the number is holding steady.

The Eagles will host its 29th annual Christmas parade in the city of Greenfield on Saturday, Dec. 4 at 2 p.m.
