After 108 games played together as a team since third grade, the Hillsboro Lady Indians eighth grade team finished their season Feb. 2 by winning a sixth straight conference championship.

The Southeast District of the OHSAA announced Sunday afternoon the 2024 sectional/district brackets for girls basketball teams. 

Playing for the first time since their first loss after winning 39 straight games, the Fairfield Lions got back to basics in the second half Tuesday night and played their brand of basketball, defeating the host Hillsboro Indians, 53-40, and in the process winning their 17th game of the season. 

On Saturday (Jan. 27), the Hillsboro Indians hosted the Western Brown Broncos and lost the non-conference game by 10 points at 67-57. 

The Hillsboro Lady Indians were unable to gain a home non-conference win Saturday afternoon (Jan. 27), as they lost to the visiting Western Brown Lady Broncos by a 59-41 score. 

The Hillsboro Indians boys wrestling team earned a 10th-place finish at the Ben Logan Raider Invitational Saturday, Jan. 27 in Bellefontaine, with one first-place and one runner-up individual.

The Frontier Athletic Conference away game for the Hillsboro Indians on Friday night (Jan. 26) was well worth the price of admission and the drive to Ross County, as the Indians earned a valuable conference win against the host Chillicothe Cavaliers, 49-35.

The Hillsboro Indians boys basketball team went on the road for a Wednesday night non-conference game against the Circleville Tigers, falling to the hosts from Pickaway County by eight points at 54-46. 

Wednesday saw the Hillsboro Lady Indians travel to Ross County for a Frontier Athletic Conference game against the Chillicothe Lady Cavaliers, winning the conference matchup by a 52-36 score. 

The Ohio High School Athletic Association released the updated statewide rankings for girls and boys basketball Ratings Percentage Index (RPI) on Wednesday. 

On Monday, the Hillsboro Lady Indians hosted the Peebles Lady Indians in a non-conference game where it was the visiting team leaving with the win when the fourth frame came to a close, as PHS defeated the Lady Indians, 56-50.

Saturday night the Hillsboro Indians snapped a five-game losing streak by gaining a home nonconference win against the Paint Valley Bearcats by a 79-42 score.

The Hillsboro Indians lost a non-conference road game Wednesday night as they fell to the host Piketon Redstreaks by a 65-58 score.
