Whiteoak battles close in loss to Portsmouth 

Going to Portsmouth on Monday (Oct. 6) to face the Trojans in non-conference play, the Whiteoak Wildcats played very close with the hosts, but came up a goal short of the Trojans on the scoreboard in their 80-minute match. 

WHS fell by a 2-1 score to start the week, as their lone goal was scored by Lucas Pollard with the assist by Shawn Mitchell-Cox. 

At goal for the Wildcats, Evan Richmond totaled 10 saves. 

WHS stands at 5-9-1 overall, and in the SHAC standings the Wildcats are 1-6-1.

Hillsboro, Peebles tie in non-conference contest 

Monday evening (Oct. 6) the Hillsboro Indians faced the host Peebles Indians in a non-conference contest that ended in a 2-2 tied score at PHS. 

Hillsboro scored one goal in each half, while Peebles had two second-half goals. 

Peebles’ goals were scored by Colyn Sims, who had an unassisted goal, and the other PHS goal was scored by Connor Gross, assisted by Sims. 

The Hillsboro Indians’ goals were scored by Cooper Swope and Korbin Stratton, with Ryan Howland having the assist with Swope’s goal, while Swope had an assist with Stratton’s goal. 

Hillsboro keeper Owen Davis finished with five saves, while Peebles keeper Holden Crum finished with eight saves. 

The HHS Indians now stand at 5-8-3 overall, while they have an FAC record of 3-3-2 this season. Peebles has an overall record of 8-7-1 with a SHAC record of 4-4-0.

GIRLS SOCCER
Hillsboro, Peebles girls soccer game finishes with a tied score
 

Having the same ending as the boys soccer match on Monday, the Hillsboro Lady Indians and Peebles Lady Indians also finished with a tied score, with the girls’ non-conference match having a final score of 3-3. 

In the match played at Peebles High School, the Lady Indians of Peebles had goals scored by Kyndal Alonso, Aiva Brumley and Reese Davis. The lone assist for Peebles went to Alonso. 

At goal for PHS, Kendall Meyers finished with 10 saves. 

Goals scored for Hillsboro were made by Kobie Miles with two, and Ella Jordan also scored a goal. Assists were credited to Arianna Evans and Kamryn Asbury. 

HHS keeper Blair Gard totaled one save. 

HHS now stands at 7-8-1 overall, and they are 5-5-0 in the FAC. Peebles now has an overall record of 7-7-3 with a SHAC record of 2-4-0.

Mustangs win over Williamsburg 

The Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs boys soccer team earned a hard-fought non-conference victory Monday over the host Williamsburg Wildcats by a 2-1 score. 

The win at WHS saw LCHS have two goals scored by Quin Wells, as both goals were assisted by Mason Fisher.

The Wildcats had their one goal scored by Kelvin Klopfstein, with the assist by Mason Gregory. 

Lynchburg-Clay keeper Tanner Roberts totaled seven saves. 

The loss moves Williamsburg to 7-9-0 overall. 

Lynchburg-Clay now stands at 10-4-1 overall with a SHAC record of 4-2-0 this season.

GIRLS SOCCER
Lady Wildcats defeat Lynchburg-Clay
 

Monday, on the road in non-conference play, the Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs lost to the host Williamsburg Lady Wildcats by a 3-0 score. 

LCHS totaled nine shots in the match. At goal for Lynchburg-Clay was Caitlyn Collins with eight saves. 

Goals for WHS were made by Addisyn Smith with two and Kendall Shelton with one. Assists were credited to Brooke Kirk, Shelton and Smith with one assist each. 

The win for Williamsburg sends them to an overall record of 9-6-3 this season. Lynchburg-Clay now stands at 5-6-2 overall, and in SHAC play this season they currently stand at 3-0-1.
