In an aggressive move designed to help protect Ohio’s $2.3 billion poultry industry from the avian flu that has so negatively impacted other poultry-producing states, the Ohio Department of Agriculture has canceled all live bird exhibitions this year.

Sheriff Donnie Barrera reports for the week of May 25-31, the Highland County Sheriff’s Office received 413 911 calls, answered 183 requests for service, dispatched 124 fire and EMS runs, took 34 offense reports and investigated four traffic crashes.

Support Our Troops Of Highland County is presenting the Vietnam Veterans Traveling Tribute, “The Wall,” at Liberty Park in Hillsboro, May 27-31. In conjunction with the program, Highland County Commissioners Shane Wilkin, Tom Horst and Jeff Duncan signed a proclamation for the veterans’ tribute at their May 27 board meeting.
