Sheriff Donnie Barrera reports for the week of March 28 - April 3, the Highland County Sheriff’s Office received 249 911 calls, answered 142 requests for service, dispatched 129 fire and EMS runs, took 24 offense reports and investigated three traffic crashes.
A deputy was dispatched to a Sharpsville Road residence at 12:36 a.m. on March 30 after a male called to report a domestic disturbance between himself and his wife. When the deputy arrived, both subjects were engaged in a verbal argument concerning marital property, but no assault had yet occurred. The male complainant left the scene without further incident, and no charges were filed.

A domestic dispute complaint was received by the Sheriff’s Office at 11:59 p.m. on April 1 from a citizen in the 4000 block of state Route 73. A female caller reported a male subject with mental health issues was upset and throwing things inside the residence. Deputies responded and spoke to the parties involved. Alcohol intoxication was determined to be a contributing factor in the outburst, but no assault occurred. No charges were filed.
The theft of an air compressor was reported to the Sheriff’s Office at 12:10 a.m. on April 2 by a resident on Hickory Trail at Rocky Fork Lake. A deputy took an offense report and is still investigating the incident.
On April 3 at 5:17 p.m., a resident of Horseshoe Road called the Sheriff’s Office to report a suspicious vehicle driving up and down the road, pulling into and out of several driveways. A deputy responded to the area and patrolled for the vehicle in question but was unable to locate any vehicle fitting the description.
