    What do you get when you cross a fricative, a short vowel sound and a plosive? The perfect expletive (you know, those short satisfying words you might utter when you stub your toe), according to Shakespeare expert Bill Kincaid who recently conducted a workshop at Southern State Community College’s North Campus in Wilmington.

    Chatfield College has announced that private scholarship money is now available for students registering for the fall term, which begins Aug. 23.

    Good news for those interested in Southern State Community College's associate degree nursing program - the wait list is gone. Beginning with the spring 2011 class, the college will use a competitive-entry format for all applicants.

  • SSCC announces honors list for spring quarter
    Southern State Community College has released its president’s and dean’s lists for academic excellence for Spring Quarter 2010. To be eligible for the president’s list, a student must maintain a 4.0 grade point average while carrying a minimum of 12 academic credit hours.
  • Zimmerman named to Bluffton's dean's list
    BLUFFTON - The dean's list for the spring semester at Bluffton University has been announced. Students with a GPA of 3.6 are eligible for the dean's list. Students whose cumulative GPA is at least 3.75 based on 20 semester hours receive distinction for continued high achievement. Courtney Zimmerman is a graduate of Fairfield Local in Highland County was named to the list.

    The cadets of Southern State Community College’s Basic Peace Officers Training Program were recognized at a special ceremony held June 24 at the college’s Central Campus in Hillsboro.
  • Wait is WC achievement award recipient
    Mariah D.A. Wait of U.S. 62, Hillsboro, is the recipient of a $10,000 Wilmington College Academic Achievement Award. The award distribution amount, which ranges from $10,000-$14,000, is based on the cumulative high school grade point average and ACT/SAT composite score. It is awarded upon acceptance to Wilmington College, regardless of need.
  • SSCC's Adult Opportunity Center holds recognition celebration
    Thirty area residents who passed the General Education Development (GED) test were honored June 17 at the 22nd annual recognition celebration at Southern State Community College’s Central Campus in Hillsboro.
