Southern State Singers plan Dec. 5 holiday concert

The Southern State Singers will present their 12th annual Christmas Concert 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 5, at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, 234 N. High St., Hillsboro.
The hour-long program will feature both sacred and secular Christmas selections. A variety of styles will be represented in the program, from spirituals to Broadway, from a motion picture theme to holiday favorites, including “Santa Claus is Coming to Town” and the wonderful Harry Simeone arrangement of “’T’was the Night Before Christmas” recorded by Fred Waring and the Pennsylvanian.
An additional feature of the concert will be the presence of various nativity sets on loan from members of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church.
The Southern State Singers is a choral group comprised of students of Southern State Community College as well as members of the community. The group is directed by John Glaze; Cheryl Porter performs as accompanist and Jennie Harner will assist on two selections. For more information, please contact Glaze atjglaze@hcf.com.
