In a scene reminiscent of an old "MacGyver" episode, local high school chemistry teachers put everyday objects to the test during an annual workshop sponsored by Southern State Community College.

The Losey family and scholarship committee wish to thank the Greenfield community for their continued support of the Hannah Losey Memorial Scholarship. To date, more than $26,000 has been awarded.

Southern State Community College's fall quarter will soon begin, and registration is under way. Classes are scheduled to start Monday, Sept. 20 with day and evening times available.

Bright Local School District announced its 2010-2011 program year policy for free and reduced priced meals for students unable to pay the full price of meals or milk served under the National School Lunch and School Breakfast, After School Care Snack or Special Milk Program.

The Hillsboro High School building will be open Thursday, Aug. 12 from 4-6 p.m. Students and parents are welcome to walk around the building and view the rooms. Teachers may or may not be available during that time. Teachers will be available during parent-teacher conferences Oct. 27 and March 24 from 3-9 p.m. to meet with parents.

Bright Local Schools has recently been awarded the Learn and Serve Ohio grant in the amount of $15,000.
