AmeriCorps Fellows program accepting applications at SSU

Students at Shawnee State University have an opportunity to build a resume, learn real work skills and earn more than $1,000 for education by being a Midwest Campus Compact Citizen-Scholar (M3C) Fellow.
SSU has 16 M3C slots to fill every academic year, recruiting both in Fall and Spring Semesters. The students will work with help to plan programs for the Center for Community Service and work with up to two community partners to complete 300 hours of service in 12 months.
The community partners will be non-profit organizations that are focused on education, human needs or volunteer recruitment.
The M3C Fellows Program is a ten-state initiative led by the Wisconsin Campus Compact that is dedicated to implementing institutional change. The M3C Fellows Program is committed to integrating education with civic engagement among campuses across the Midwest.
The program is an AmeriCorps Education Award Program. Students who are involved in this program will receive an education award to use toward tuition, or federally funded student loans, in return for community service.
The students are working on projects, such as, tutoring elementary, middle school and high school students in reading, mathematics and a variety of other subjects; doing Habitat for Humanity Builds across the Midwest; assisting with a multitude of programs at Boys and Girls clubs; being mentors as well as Big Brothers/Big Sisters; working at Humane Societies to find animals' homes; and donating their time and in some cases expertise to hospitals and healthcare centers.
Campuses are selected to participate in the M3C Fellows Program based on a competitive application process.
