The Ohio-West Virginia YMCA will present the HI-Y Preservation of Democracy Award to McClain HI-Y during the opening session of the 59th Ohio HI-Y Youth in Government, April 15 at 3 p.m., in the House of Representatives at the Statehouse.

Hillsboro High School has announced their High Honor Roll (3.5 GPA and above) and Honor Roll (3. - 3.4 GPA) for the third nine weeks.

Throughout the year, the South Campus of Southern State Community college exhibits several works from local artists each month. The current exhibit, which runs throughout April, features Wilmington painter David Kline. The public is invited to a meet-the-artist reception from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, April 22, in the Learning Resources Center at SSCC’s South Campus, 12681 U.S. Route 62, Fincastle. Refreshments will be served.

On Tuesday, March 30, more than 70 local business people were presenters at the HHS Career Fair held in the HMS gym. The fair provided opportunities for students to speak with professionals and learn about various careers of interest. Students spent a full week during their homeroom period completing several activities in preparation for the event.

Bright Local School District is announcing their Kindergarten Registration process for 2010.  Parents/Guardians are requested to complete paperwork and to schedule a screening time.  A Kindergarten packet and scheduling can be completed on any school day from April 19th to April 30th between 7:30 AM and 3:30 PM at the Bright Elementary School office.  Parents should bring driver’s license, proof of residence, the child’s birth certificate, shot record, social security card and custody papers (if necessary).   The child’s attendance is not required to fill out paperwork, however the child should attend the screening day on Friday, May 7, 2010.
