The Hillsboro Street and Safety Committee will meet on Monday, Feb. 26 at 6 p.m. at city hall located at 130 North High Street Hillsboro. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss park security and two-hour parking.

The Hillsboro Rotary Club will again sponsor the Chili Challenge Competition and the annual Chili Supper as part of its fundraising for the 52nd annual Ernie Blankenship Memorial Radio-Telethon.  

One thing, though, is becoming clear: Many of those volunteers and businesses are not pleased with the city's lack of transparency on the Shaffer Park decision. To the best of my knowledge, this issue has not been discussed in open session with members of Hillsboro City Council. The mayor never formally announced Gregory's hiring at a council meeting. Why not? For a new $58,000 city position, shouldn't city council – and the city's residents and taxpayers – be informed?

Playing a rescheduled game on Wednesday evening (Jan. 31), the Hillsboro Lady Indians defended their home court with a non-conference win over a Highland County counterpart, the Whiteoak Lady Wildcats, 57-47. 

"The Lincoln School Story," a new half-hour video documentary from Ohio Humanities that examines the little-known fight for school desegregation led by a handful of Ohio mothers and their children in 1954, will make its television broadcast debut on PBS stations across Ohio this month. CET-TV, based in Cincinnati, will air the film on Feb. 16 at 11 p.m. and on Feb. 26 at 5 p.m.

Bruce and Marinona Peters are celebrating their 50th anniversary from 2-5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 18 in the Marshall Community Center (school gym) at 11090 S.R. 124, Hillsboro.

A special Hillsboro City Council meeting will be held Jan. 31 at 7 p.m. at 130 Homestead Ave., Hillsboro.

The Hillsboro Christian Academy varsity basketball teams returned to action, facing off against Ross County Christian Academy at home on Jan. 16 and at Wilmington Christian Academy on Jan. 18.

The Hillsboro Christian Academy varsity basketball teams traveled to Ross County Christian Academy on Dec. 19 for a pair of games. Both the Crusaders and Lady Crusaders lost their games to RCCA.

The Hillsboro boys wrestling team traveled to Warren High School, Saturday, Dec. 16 to compete in the Hickory Grove Invitational.

The Hillsboro City Schools Board of Education will meet in regular session Wednesday, Dec. 20 at 8 a.m. at the Board of Education Office, 39 Willettsville Pike, Hillsboro.

Hillsboro Christian Academy played host to Fayette Christian School in a pair of varsity basketball games on Monday, Dec. 11. The HCA Crusaders came from behind to win their game by a final score of 51-49, while the HCA Lady Crusaders won, 31-29.

For the second time in less than one month, a business in Hillsboro historic uptown district has been vandalized.

The Milford Christian Academy Bulldogs hosted their annual Milford Bulldog Classic basketball tournament on Dec. 1-2. The Hillsboro Christian Academy Crusaders took part in the tournament, earning second place in both the varsity boys and varsity girls competitions.
