The little town of Hoagland was a great place to grow up in the 1970s. We had a general store to hang out at and a Tastee Freeze that had fantastic ice cream and sandwiches.
Hillsboro City Council will hold a special meeting Wednesday, Sept. 17 at 5 p.m. The meeting will be held at City Hall, 130 N. High Street, 2nd floor, Hillsboro.
Visitors to the Highland House Museum on East Main Street in Hillsboro will find a new addition to the recently opened schoolroom exhibit. It is a large map showing the approximate locations of over 150 past one-room schoolhouses plus past and present educational facilities within Highland County.
Hillsboro Elks Lodge 361 recently wrote a $1,000 grant for the Highland County Sheriff's Office to purchase 14 tourniquets for the road officers to carry with them to treat accident victims who are bleeding before emergency medical personnel arrive.
