Sometimes there are just occurrences on a basketball court and in sports in general that are tough to explain, or you just had to see it to believe it.
The second annual Chad Hodson Classic was held in Grandle Gymnasium at Fairfield High School Saturday, as six games were played with all five Highland County schools represented in the all-day event.
The past two games to end the 2023 portion, and to begin the 2024 part, of this season’s schedule had the same result, that being the Fairfield Lions gaining wins in non-conference battles.
Both the McClain Lady Tigers and Fairfield Lady Lions finished their 2023 portion of their basketball schedule with a Highland County rivalry game Friday night. The two teams battled at McClain Gym, where it was the home team Lady Tigers outlasting the Lady Lions, 29-16.

The Fairfield Lions continued to add to their overall and Southern Hills Athletic Conference win totals for the 2023-24 season on Tuesday night, this time defeating the Peebles Indians at Grandle Gymnasium, 58-39.
Fairfield had two single-digit scoring quarters which ultimately led to their Southern Hills Athletic Conference loss Monday night (Dec. 18) to the host Fayetteville Lady Rockets, 56-41.
