Fairfield shuts out Peebles

The Fairfield Lady Lions used nine hits and shutout pitching to earn a Southern Hills Athletic Conference win Thursday evening against the Peebles Lady Indians by a 3-0 score at Fairfield High School.
The first run of the game crossed home plate in the bottom of the fourth, then the Lady Lions added their final two runs with one each coming in the fifth and sixth innings.
In all, FHS totaled nine hits and committed three errors, while PHS had six hits and two errors.
Whitlee Morrow was 2-for-4 for Fairfield with two steals, and Avery Morrow went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Rilee Quickle finished 1-for-3 with one RBI, and Kelsie Crowder went 1-for-3.
Jorgia Smith ended the game at 1-for-2 with a double, one run and a walk. Ava White was 1-for-3, and Jorja May finished the SHAC win at 1-for-3 with one run and a steal.
Quickle (4-2) was the winning pitcher with seven innings in the circle as she allowed no runs on six hits and no walks with six strikeouts as she faced 28 batters.
The win improves Fairfield to an overall record of 5-2, with a 2-0 record in the SHAC Division II standings.
FHS was scheduled to travel to Bainbridge to face the Paint Valley Lady Bearcats at 5 p.m. on Friday, April 3 in non-conference action.
