Fairfield falls to Greeneview in walk-off loss

Traveling to face the Greeneview Lady Rams on Monday, the Fairfield Lady Lions lost to the hosts by a 7-6 score as GHS scored the game winning run with a walk-off single hit to right field in the bottom of the seventh inning of their non-conference game.
Fairfield (1-2) finished with 13 hits and one error, while Greeneview had 10 hits and three errors.
The Lady Lions led 4-1 at the conclusion of the first inning, but Greeneview came back with two runs in the bottom of the second, one run in the third and one run in the fifth, erasing Fairfield’s three-run lead and replacing it with a 5-4 lead for the host Lady Rams.
In the top of sixth, Fairfield scored two runs and GHS added one run in the bottom of the inning for a 6-6 tied score after six innings.
The bottom of the seventh saw Greeneview score the game-winning run with a one-out base hit by Gabby Sutton, scoring Maddie Owens, who initially reached the bases with a lead-off double.
The Lady Lions had two players with three hits each, as senior Rilee Quickle was 3-for-3 at the plate with two runs, a walk and a steal. Quickle was charged with the loss in the circle, pitching 6.2 innings, charged with five earned runs and she had five strikeouts.
Junior Jorgia Smith was 3-for-4 with one RBI for the Lady Lions.
Sophomore Avery Morrow went 2-for-4, and junior Whitlee Morrow was 2-for-5 with one run and a steal.
Alyssa Bales (a junior) went 1-for-3 with one run as her hit was a triple, plus she also forced a walk and had one steal. Sophomore Kelsie Crowder was 1-for-3 with one RBI and one run, while also having a walk and one steal. Sophomore Jorja May went 1-for-4.
Ally Maynard, a junior, scored one run and had two RBI. Junior Ava White finished with a sacrifice for FHS.
Next for the Lady Lions is an away non-conference game on Tuesday, March 24 at Western Latham at 5 p.m.
