The Hillsboro Woman's Club enjoyed an outing for its October meeting, beginning with lunch at Snow Hill Country Club. The 19 members and five guests present then traveled to Sabina to tour the Sara Rose Museum.
The eighth annual Safe Trick-or-Treat event will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, at Southern State Community College, 100 Hobart Drive, Hillsboro. The free event is sponsored by Students in Action, a volunteer community service group for students.

On Oct. 1, Ashley Nichole Fryman enlisted in the United States Marine Corps Delayed Entry Program. She is a 2009 graduate of Fairfield Local High School. While in the Delayed Entry Program, Fryman will prepare herself for the mental and physical rigors of Marine Corps training.

The Greenfield Historical Society will hold its third annual History Day on Saturday, Oct. 3, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. The event will be held at the society’s complex of historical buildings on the east side of Greenfield, near the state Route 28 bridge.
