Barbara Zumwalde of Hillsboro has entered two head of Alpine in the dairy goats division of the 38th annual North American International Livestock Exposition (NAILE).

The Ohio State University Extension, Highland County Office and the Highland District Hospital will be offering a 'dining with diabetes class' series, Oct. 6, 13 and 20 from 6-8 p.m. The classes will be held at the Hillsboro Church of the Nazarene Annex, located at 8230 U.S. Route 50, Hillsboro.

The Highland Soil & Water Conservation District’s 69th annual meeting will be held on Oct. 13, at the Highland County Training and Employment Center (Hi-TEC) located at 1575 N. High Street in Hillsboro from 5-7 p.m.

We have made arrangements with Anthony Gibbs, a professional re-enactor from Canal Winchester, to be present and tell the story of John Parker. Mr. Gibbs will also present Parker's story to the fifth grade students at Buckskin and Rainsboro on Sept. 30.

Fall is here! I can't believe that summer is gone, but fair is over, school is in session, and Labor Day has come and gone. We have some great fall displays. SSCC Theatre will host open auditions for the upcoming production “Biloxi Blues” from 6:30-8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21, in the Edward K. Daniels Auditorium on Southern State Community College’s Central Campus, 100 Hobart Drive, Hillsboro. “Biloxi Blues” was written by Neil Simon and will be directed by Rainee Angles with performance dates set for Nov. 11-13.

If it’s a Thursday evening, chances are something cool’s happening at the South Campus of Southern State Community College. From artists and authors to gardeners and (gasp) ghosts, the variety of speakers runs the gamut.

The Hee-Haw Talent Show will be Friday, Sep. 23 starting at 7 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 24 starting at 7 p.m. Admission will be $3.
