A gallery showing was held Sunday, Oct. 7 at Highlands Nature Sanctuary to highlight the work of the sanctuary’s residency artists and 51 Rainsboro Elementary students who participated in a two-day art project last month.

A few weeks ago, I attended the screening and accompanying local foods dinner of "Farmers For America," a pro-agriculture documentary film focused on the trials and tribulations of young farmers in the United States. Being a young farmer myself, I could relate to the challenges discussed in the film.

I enjoy the outdoors and watching animals in their natural habitat. On my commute to the Highland County Extension Office, I frequently see deer, turkeys and a variety of birds. However, last week was different as I saw an American bald eagle near the Highland County and Clinton County line on Route 72. The bald eagle I saw was enjoying its breakfast of roadkill and was not in a photogenic mindset.

The Area Agency on Aging District 7 (AAA7) in Ohio was honored recently with an Aging Achievement Award by the National Association of Area Agencies on Aging (n4a). The awards program was supported by WellCare Health Plans.

UC Clermont College’s Calico Children’s Theatre will feature “Rumpelstiltskin,” performed by The Frisch Marionettes, Oct. 12 at 7 p.m.
