Ken Stevens, longtime chief at Highland County North Joint Fire and Ambulance District in Leesburg, was honored for 35 years of service with a surprise party hosted by the Firefighters Association Saturday, Jan. 19.

Local pastor Patty Burns will be honored at Church Women United’s Human Rights Celebration Tuesday, Jan. 22 at 6 p.m. Burns has been led into many unique and unexpected situations while serving her God and the Highland County community.

Helpful information including agency highlights, facts and figures were included in the Area Agency on Aging District 7’s (AAA7) 2017 Annual Report that was recently presented during the Agency’s Annual Meeting at The Ohio State University Endeavor Center in Piketon. The AAA7 provides services to ten counties in Ohio including Adams, Brown, Gallia, Highland, Jackson, Lawrence, Pike, Ross, Scioto and Vinton.

Our Agency family is mourning the loss of our Executive Director, Pamela K. Matura. Pam joined the Area Agency on Aging District 7 (AAA7) as Executive Director in November 1989 and remained in that position until her passing on Nov. 18, 2018. Prior to joining the AAA7, Pam was Superintendent of the Gallipolis Developmental Center (GDC) in Gallipolis.

The 30th annual Luminaria was enjoyed by many folks who came to town to enjoy the lighted candle displays along the streets in downtown Leesburg and throughout the village. The Leesburg Lions Club sponsors this event on the second Sunday in December.
