Members of the Hillsboro Towne Club recently met at Field of Dreams, located at 10330 Mad River Road, New Vienna.

The Hillsboro Cub Scout Pack 37 held their November pack meeting at the Hills and Dales Training Center. The Wolf Den organized this meeting and encompassed the theme "Cubs Who Care."

Ohio’s Hospice of Fayette County will host its 30th annual Hearts for the Holidays, a celebration of life, on Thursday, Dec. 5, at 6:30 pm, at Crossroads Church (175 Halliday Way, Washington Court House 43160).

Each year, the need among children in the area community grows greater, and each year through its Coats for Kids drive, Adena Health System caregivers step up to meet that need. This year, more than 1,200 local children are receiving brand-new coats, thanks to the generosity of Adena caregivers.

In the season of giving, the Highland County Homeless Shelter clients have selected Operation Christmas Child for the fifth year in a row as part of the shelter’s way of giving back to those in need.

In 1998, The CHEEZIES were formed by five then-members of the Glee Club. They sing a cappella music and have developed a distinctive and mature sound. Hillsboro resident Christopher Ford is a member of the group.

Children who sign up for a log will get to pick prizes from the Christmas Treasure Chest after they read 10 books. Teens will get a drawing slip after every book they read, and prizes will be drawn from those slips on Dec. 16.

Sharon Fulkerson, owner of yarn shop Margaret’s Memories, will host her annual Christmas open house Friday, Nov. 29 from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 30 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
