The Lynchburg Lions Club and Lions Clubs International sponsored their annual peace poster contest again this fall.

As the last run of the Headless Horseman went through the covered bridge set at Sugarloaf Mountain on Saturday night, the books also closed on the 2019 season. It marked the end of a highly ambitious year of presenting and producing which saw the theatre in use for a record number of days.

James McLaughlin is returning for his seventh annual Hillsboro recital, which will be Nov. 10 at 3 p.m. at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, located at 234 North High Street in Hillsboro.

In order to advance, students had to take an online knowledge test and place in the top 150 students in the state. Kara Williams advanced to compete at the state level contest.

On Thursday, Oct. 24 the Highland County Chamber of Commerce joined LaRosa's in celebrating the one-year anniversary of opening their Hillsboro location.

U.S. Army Reserve Second Lieutenant Alex Butler led several area enlistees in the oath of enlistment in a swearing-in ceremony Friday, Oct. 18 at Richards Memorial Field, prior to the Hillsboro High School football game against the Washington Blue Lions.
