Sheriff Donnie Barrera reports for the week of March 13-19, 2017, the Highland County Sheriff’s Office received 233 911 calls, answered 162 requests for service, dispatched 122 fire and EMS runs, took 35 offense reports and investigated five traffic crashes.

Highland County Coroner Dr. Jeffrey Beery has released a report of coroner’s cases for the year 2016. Fifty cases were included in the report, as Beery told The Highland County Press he only included deaths that were considered suspicious or initially considered unnatural causes in the report. Beery said this is the largest number of cases he’s seen in a calendar year.
