Ohio farmers stand to lose close to $1 billion in income from late planting of corn and soybeans this spring. Fortunately, Ohio farmers in general have had four consecutive good years leading up to 2011.

The Lynchburg Police Department will be hosting an open house on Saturday, June 18 from noon-2 p.m., LPD Sgt. Dustin Malone has announced. The event will be held at the Lynchburg Fire Department, located at 8123 S.R. 135 Lynchburg.

With binding arbitration looming on the horizon for the Highland County Sheriff's Office, Highland County Commissioners Shane Wilkin, Tom Horst, and Jeremy Shaffer met with Sheriff Ron Ward Wednesday, June 8, at the commissioners' request. Ward was asked to attend the commissioners' weekly meeting in order to discuss the 9-1-1 wireless personnel budget. According to Wilkin, "expenses may be headed in the wrong direction."

U.S. Senator Rob Portman (R-Ohio) expressed hope today that the White House’s Statement of Administration Policy criticizing the Senate Democrats’ jobs proposal was a sign that the administration was finally accepting the reality that Democrat spending proposals like the stimulus bill have not created the promised job growth.

A Greenfield woman has been indicted on charges relating to the death of her infant daughter. Jessica Miller, of Greenfield, was indicted Tuesday by a grand jury in Highland County Common Pleas Court on one charge of involuntary manslaughter and one charge of child endangering.
