The Wednesday morning snowfall has prompted Hillsboro City Schools to close on March 13. The Highland County Board of DD and Highco Adult Workshop are on a one-hour delay. Hillsboro Christian Academy also is on a one-hour delay.

This week, officials with the Highland County Humane Society with the assistance of the Highland County Sheriff’s Office served a search warrant at a home in southwest Highland County for the removal of an injured and underweight horse.

First State Bank has made a $1,000 contribution to the future outdoor athletic complex at Hillsboro High School. First State Bank President and CEO Mike Pell and Branch Manager Amy Schoultheis presented Hillsboro City Schools Superintendent Rick Earley with a check for $1,000 Friday morning at the construction site of the school's new track and soccer fields.
