On May 23, deputies with the Highland County Sheriff's Office located a rental car leased by Weber that contained all of his personal property and clothing. The vehicle had been abandoned in a remote area just west of Mowrystown.
Further investigation by the Highland County Sheriff's Office found that Weber was missing from the state of Colorado. Family members from Colorado went to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office and requested a report that Weber was a missing adult. A search by foot and by aircraft was conducted, and at that time Weber had not been located.
