Commemorating the 70th anniversary of Pearl Harbor, Highland County veterans were honored Wednesday evening with a service at Hillsboro High School. Organized by Hillsboro Mayor Dick Zink, the event featured patriotic music provided by the Hillsboro High School band.

Crews from ODOT District 9's Highland County highway maintenance facility have been dispatched tonight, December 7, due to reported ice conditions.

The official portrait of the late Chief Justice Thomas J. Moyer now hangs prominently in the Grand Concourse of the newly dedicated Thomas J. Moyer Ohio Judicial Center. Around 400 members of the judiciary and guests honored the late Chief Justice Thomas J. Moyer on Dec. 2 as the Supreme Court of Ohio dedicated the Ohio Judicial Center in his name.

In the latest National Defense Authorization Act, Congress is trying to give the president power to imprison Americans indefinitely, without charges or respect for habeas corpus, if he claims they are terrorists. Democrats and Republicans in the Senate have already joined hands to pass the bill. Both of Ohio's U.S. senators, Republican Rob Portman, and Democrat Sherrod Brown, voted for the legislation.

The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS) has received federal approval for a corrective compliance plan that will bring Ohio’s cash assistance program into line with federal welfare-to-work requirements, avoid more than $130 million in federal penalties, and put more Ohioans back to work.
