On July 21 through Aug. 3, the Hillsboro Great Oaks FFA Chapter had five members show beef projects at the Ohio State Fair. These members included Carter Boyd, Cameron Burkard, Brianna Foxx, Blake Herdman and Emma Yochum.

On Tuesday, Sept. 3, U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona will launch the 2024 Back to School Bus Tour from Sept. 3 to Sept. 6.

During the last week of June, Hillsboro Great Oaks FFA members Blake Herdman, Emma Yochum and Connor Yochum traveled to Springfield, Mo., to spend the week at the Maine-Anjou and Chi Junior Nationals.

This is the first academic year Ohio school districts are required to teach the science of reading curriculum, which is based on decades of research that shows how the human brain learns to read and incorporates phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension.

On June 29-July 3, 12 members from the Hillsboro Great Oaks FFA Chapter attended Ohio FFA Camp Muskingum.

As part of Ohio’s efforts to provide increased access to innovative and effective mental health supports across the state, the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (OhioMHAS) announced it is partnering with the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce (DEW) and Hazel Health to provide teletherapy services to 160,000 students statewide.

The Wilmington College community is mourning the loss of one of its students. Sophomore Mackenzie Corbin passed away over the weekend. She was an agribusiness major from South Salem and a member of Sigma Alpha sorority.
