The following is the honor roll for Lynchburg-Clay Elementary for the fourth nine weeks period of the 2010-11 school year.

The membership of one of higher education’s most recognized honor societies, Phi Theta Kappa (PTK), was enhanced by the induction of several new members at a June 3 ceremony in The Patriot Center at Southern State Community College’s Central Campus in Hillsboro.

Jenna Shull, the daughter of Jim and Mary Shull of Springfield and granddaughter of Jo Ann Trueblood of Hillsboro and Charles Shull of Columbus, has completed her sophomore year at the College of Mount St. Joseph, making the dean’s list both years with a 4.0 grade point average.

The G.O.O.D. Program (“Going On Or Defeated”) was started by Ron Derry, an Ohio teacher who, after 18 years of teaching, suddenly went blind. At that point, he dedicated his life to encouraging people to understand that all problems can be overcome.

Wilmington College received a $100,000 grant for expanding the use of technology in its teacher preparation programs at Wilmington City, Hillsboro City and Clinton-Massie Local schools.

Highland County's Talented & Gifted (TAG) students recently experienced our nation's capital on their annual TAG field trip.

The 2010-11 Terry's Grocery/McGinnis Family, Lynchburg-Clay Athletic Booster Scholarship winners have been announced, thanks to Terry's Grocery and the McGinnis Family for their continued support through the Lynchburg-Clay Athletic Boosters Hoagie Day.

Taylor Stanforth, Shelby Bobbitt, and Kiley Davis recently attended the Ohio South Site of the Hugh O’Brian Youth (HOBY) Leadership Seminar. These ambassadors joined more than 200 other young leaders representing 150 high schools from throughout Ohio, May 19-22 at Denison University in Granville.

Thomas Bohl, senior biochemistry and molecular biology major at The College of Wooster, has been inducted into Phi Beta Kappa, the nation's oldest and most prestigious liberal arts honor society.
