Though the Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs only replace two players from one season ago, they are replacing a lot of talent and are looking toward a new group of seniors to lead the way as they want to advance out of the sectional round this coming February.

Last season, the Fairfield Lady Lions had no choice but to learn on the fly and learn quickly. With no seniors last season, along with no juniors, the sophomore class was looked at to be the leaders earlier than normal ... and what did they do? The sophomore class led FHS to a win in their first regular-season game and even won a sectional game as they improved throughout the season.

The past two seasons as a member of the Hillsboro varsity basketball team have been full of celebration and success for Jarrod Hart.

For the first time in a few seasons, the McClain Tigers aren't young ... rather, they are a team with varsity playing experience and six seniors who not only know what the McClain tradition stands for, but this group of six young men wants to add their mark to what is already a tradition-filled program.

The seniors who are in that group understand and realize this is their final opportunity to have the first-place trophy at the end-of-season awards banquet.

For Whiteoak seniors Gage Carraher, Doc Seip and Luke Taggert, they have one goal they want to achieve, or more easily said, one location they want to return to during their final season as high school basketball players.

For three Hillsboro seniors, they have seen the rebuilding of a basketball program as they have played at both the JV and varsity levels during their time at HHS, and now it is their time to add their final chapter to the rebuilding of HHS girls basketball.

For McClain junior Tara Karnes and sophomore Shania Massie, this season will be different than any other season before. The duo are the lone returning players for a Lady Tiger team that has no seniors, a situation that has occurred just twice in the past 32 seasons under head coach Dennis Overstake.

The latest group of Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustang seniors all have taken a different path to their final high school season.

The Fairfield Lady Lions had to grow up quickly and on the go last year as they were all freshmen or sophomores as they entered the season. This season, the starting five of the Lady Lions have more experience and much to prove to not only their community, but to themselves as they want to continue what they started one year ago.

Since Mike Cooper took over as head coach of the Whiteoak Lady Wildcats what is now three seasons ago, they have had to start from scratch and rebuild a program. With that said, there are three current Lady 'Cats who have been with Cooper that entire time in senior Clarissa Johnson and juniors Morgan Campbell and Brittany Luman.
