    The descendants of Jimmy Joe and Lula (Beekman) Miller held their annual family reunion on Sunday, Aug. 1 at the Brush Creek Community Center in Sinking Spring.
  • Gilmore, Mercer descendants reunite
    Descendants of Lewis Gilmore and Stella Vance Mercer met on Sunday, June 27 at the Fairfield Local School for their annual family reunion, with 120 in attendance. Mr. and Mrs. Mercer were the parents of eight daughters: Bess Duncan, Opal Murray, Maxine Patton, Frances Wiggins, Jeannette Miller, Jane Cannon, Hilda Lucas, and Kathryn Karnes. Each year, one family serves as host, and this year, the hosts were Roger Cannon and Ann Davis from Eufala, Okla.
  • Shakespeare comes to Cave Hollow for final weekend
    Hamlet will play for one more weekend, (Aug. 27, 28 and 29) ending the 28th summer season at Magic Waters Theatre. Friday and Saturday shows start at 8 p.m. and Sunday shows start at 7 p.m., with nearly an hour of magical entertainment pre-show by Boonie the Magician. Pre-show dinners may be ordered in advance and are served one hour before show time.
  • Brad Barber discusses Code of Ethics with Realtors board
    Brad Barber, Highland County Board of Realtors Association Executive, was the guest speaker at the Aug. 26 Realtors board meeting at the Ponderosa Banquet Center in Hillsboro. After Realtors and their affiliates enjoyed a lunch sponsored by NB&T, Barber discussed the Realtors Code of Ethics. The Code of Ethics is a "living document" Barber said, "because it must change to reflect current conditions."

    Pricetown Partners held the last meeting before the fair on Aug. 24, 2010 at Lynchburg-Clay High School.
  • Hillsboro Emblem Club gives to BPOE
    The Hillsboro Emblem Club raises money throughout the year by selling refreshments at Monday night bingo. The club donates to charities throughout the community and give to the Elks Lodge for the use of their facility annually.

    The 4-H Style Revue will be held at the Highland County Fair of all the beautiful outfits that were made by the 4-Hers this year.  Everyone is welcome to attend this event which will be held in the Multi Purpose Building on Saturday, Sept. 4, at 1 p.m.
