The Hillsboro City Council passed the annual temporary appropriations ordinance during their regular session Monday, which appropriated funds for "current expenses and other expenditures" to get the city through the first part of 2011.
 The annual legislation was introduced by Hillsboro City Auditor Gary Lewis.

Student volunteers from the Highland County Alternative School's JOGs (Jobs for Ohio Graduates) program help wrap and sort gifts Tuesday at the Help Me Grow office in the Highland County Annex.

A tractor-drawn antique cart driven by Ken Woleab transported the royalty to the village open houses where they enjoyed a potpourri of treats. These businesses opened their doors and served a wide variety of Christmas goodies: Kay Simmon’s Insurance, Leesburg Market and Meats, The American Legion, Katie’s Confections, Fat Boys Pizza, Leesburg Federal, along with the library and the post office which hosted a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus.

COLUMBUS - Ohio Governor-elect John Kasich has told an Ohio newspaper that dismantling Ohio's collective bargaining law would be a good step for the state, saying that salary disputes for police and fire departments are bankrupting Ohio's cities.
 "I really don't favor the right to strike by any public employee. If they want to strike they should be fired," Kasich said last week, according to The Cleveland Plain Dealer. "They've got good jobs, they've got high pay, they get good benefits, a great retirement. What are they striking for?"

Crews from the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) continue working this morning to clear the roads; however, ODOT is reminding drivers of the best advice for driving in winter weather: in “Ice and Snow: Take it Slow” - slower speeds, slower acceleration, slower steering and slower braking.

The Agri Broadcast Network is ending its operations. The network's operator, AdVance Broadcast and Communication, posted the announcement on its website.
