Highland County Sheriff Ron Ward met with commissioners Wednesday regarding the outdated video recording system at the Highland County Justice Center. The security recording system is 9 years old and it is “starting to falter,” Ward told commissioners Shane Wilkin, Tom Horst and Gary Heaton. Ward explained that the security cameras operate 24 hours a day, every day of the year, and several cameras are no longer working.

Highland County farmers have until July 15 to report their 2010 planted acreage to the Farm Service Agency (FSA) according to Jim Patton, director of the local FSA office.

The final pre-festival bell sale for the 2010 Festival of the Bells will be from 9 a.m.-noon Saturday, June 26 at Classic Real Estate on Main Street in Hillsboro, according to Festival Committee President Michael Bradford.
