  • Stop and think before voting

I will conclude with another quote from Will Rogers which is, "If you want to be successful, it's just this simple. Know what you are doing. Love what you are doing. And believe in what you are doing." If you want government to work, it's just this simple, vote for candidates who know what they are doing, love what they are doing and believe in what they are doing.

I would like to invite the citizens of Jackson Township and alumni of the Old Belfast School to attend the next Jackson Township meeting on Monday, Nov. 8 at 7:30 p.m. Your support would be greatly appreciated.
  • Politicians avoid topic of security when promoting high-speed rail
Virtually every consulting firm that helps governments deal with terrorist threats knows that passenger rail service is always a serious weak spot – a prime target for thugs seeking easy means and high body counts. With rail passengers being more or less “captive audiences,” they are tailor-made targets for terrorists and hostage-takers with explosives and guns.
  • Don't put Republicans in charge
Putting Republicans back in charge at the state and federal level is like setting free an arsonist after you have started to rebuild the house and telling him, "Here are those matches we took from you. Sorry for the inconvenience."
  • Support Rob Portman for U.S. Senate
Rob Portman will focus his energy on getting people in Ohio back to work and reducing government spending. Again, please consider voting for Portman because he is dedicated, experienced and will get the job done for us.
  • Let's stop the lies from anonymous sources
Let's get back to having a government and public airwaves that serve the people instead of the highest bidders.
  • City should base council wards on current population
The latest U.S. census has been taken and the city of Hillsboro should have received the proclamation from the Ohio Secretary of State stating the city's official population.
  • Local farmer takes issue with U.S. Agriculture Secretary's assessment of pork producers
Regulation should tie risk to responsibility. It would motivate producers to be proactive to avoid risks to others. When there is very little accountability, such as in my situation, there is less motivation to operate responsibly.
  • A prevalence of ignorance
What kind of future does a country that puts people who believe that government is inherently bad in charge of government have to look forward to? If you want government to work, put people who believe that it can work in charge. If you want to ensure government failure put people who want it to fail in charge.
  • Hillsboro Lions Club recycles for sight and hearing
The Hillsboro Lions Club would like to thank the community for supporting our “Lions Recycle for Sight” program.
  • Why support Republicans?
I know that I am in the minority in Highland County. But for the life of me I cannot understand why the residents of the county are so supportive of conservatives and national Republicans.
  • Reaction to the gubernatorial debate
I watched the Ohio gubernatorial debate and concluded that Kasich puts the guber in gubernatorial. Guber is defined as, "A stage in a man's life when he acts in a way which other's would usually find embarrassing. This can include such acts long boring inquiries into common sense tasks that lead to long meaningless stories."
  • Parker House owner clarifies recent litigation
'Even though the reimbursement was less than half of my actual cost, I was impressed with the detailed evaluation and calculations made by the judge.'
  • How much government do we need?
It is not that difficult to get the economy humming again. Cut the size of government about 50 percent, eliminate the corporate tax and cut out all the foolish regulations stifling business. Corporations want to do business in this country but our government is making it to expensive and way too difficult.
  • Congratulations to McClain graduate honored by Ohio University
