The Fairfield Lady Lions cut down on miscues and provided backup for the pitching Tuesday night at Fairfield High School. After losing to the McClain Lady Tigers the previous night, it was the Lady Lions who did what was needed for a 7-0 win against Highland County and Southern Hills League rival Whiteoak.

Giving up six unearned runs against the East Clinton Astros hurt any chances for a Whiteoak Wildcats win Monday at Wilmington College. The Wildcats gave up the six runs in three combined innings for a 6-1 non-league loss.

The McClain Tigers have hit their stride as of late. Not only have they won nine of their last 10 games, but they have won most of those games with late inning runs to seal the victory.

The Whiteoak Wildcats split a doubleheader this past Saturday at South Webster High School, winning game one 10-7, and dropping the second game 8-2.

The Fairfield Lions earned two wins this past Saturday, defeating the West Union Dragons 6-5 and 11-1 at Fairfield High School.

The Whiteoak boys and girls track teams have gotten off to a good start in the early season.

The Fairfield Lady Lions showed their ability to bounce back from a loss. After losing a non-league game against Hillsboro, the Lady Lions defeated the Fayetteville Lady Rockets 11-1 in Southern Hills League action at Fayetteville High School.

The Fairfield Lions were unable to off-set their fielding errors Thursday against the Fayetteville Rockets. Committing six errors, double the amount of the Rockets, the Lions gave up three runs in the third as they fell in Southen Hills League play 5-1.

The McClain Tigers were back to their winning ways Friday afternoon. After suffering their first loss in seven games the night befor to Waverly, the Tigers rebounded by defeating the Madison-Plains Golden Eagles 10-5 at Madison-Plains High School.

The 1973-74 basketball season was just around the corner and all the South Central Ohio League schools were putting their teams through the paces, so they could, hopefully, open the young season on a positive note.

Is it sad that I have rules for eating at baseball games?
    I don't think so. In fact, I consider it a must when attending America's Pastime.
    With most sports, it really doesn't matter what is served at the venue, but with baseball, that is different for me.
