The task ahead is Herculean. We have allies at war and allies facing potential war. We have a national debt of $36 trillion. We have runaway government spending. We have a wide-open border. It's time to end the bickering and do the work you are elected – and paid handsomely – to do. Fix it.

I'm sure the millions of good folks working for the federal government will soon get to the bottom of this. Who knows? Maybe Chimus Transportation, Inc. will take the high road and resolve its address issue(s).

It's time to pass this much-needed levy. If there is sufficient charity in Highland County – and I know from experience there is – this levy will pass on Nov. 5. Early voting for the Tuesday, Nov. 5 general election begins Tuesday, Oct. 8. Tomorrow. Please vote.

Thanks to my second cousin Jeff McCoy, who recently passed away, I was able to meet Pete at Hillsboro High School after a charity basketball game when I was 9 or 10. Years later, I met Pete again.

Rita was the perfect match for Ernie, just as Judy was the perfect match for Jim. They were both spiritual and religious ladies, who lived for faith and family. Their families are all the better because of them.

Fifteen years ago this month – in late August 2009 – it was announced that the newly formed Cameco Communications, LLC had acquired The Highland County Press from William Latham and the Sun Publishing Group. My wife, Pam, named the company “Cameco” from the first two letters of our children’s Irish names, Caitlin, Meghan and Colin.

Voters this November would be wise to remember two things: You can vote in socialism, but you cannot vote it out.

All of the vicious and violent anti-Donald Trump rhetoric must end. Now. It should never have gotten to this point. The media are complicit. So is Hollywood. So are many far-left Democrats. 

The dilemma now facing members of Greenfield Village Council and their duties to the community is this: Now what? How do you move on from this?

Watching the train wreck, er, debate, I couldn't help but at some point hope one of the debate moderators would borrow a line from "Billy Madison:" Mr. Biden, At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul. 

According to the Ohio Revised Code, "public record means any document regardless of physical form, including an electronic record, created or received by or coming under the jurisdiction of any public office, which serves to document the activities of the office."

Thank you, Donnie, for your many years of law enforcement service. You have always been great to work with. All the best in your well-deserved retirement. I owe you one.

It's been 10 years since T.J. Turner's his passing. It's time. Hillsboro should retire No. 35 and have a ceremony at a home game this fall.

Love, patience and never-ending effort are the families' best reserve. Never, never give up. Let's just count our blessings. And be thankful.
