A second straight win to start the 2017 season wasn’t in the books for the Hillsboro Indians, as that hope was washed away by a persistent rainfall all game long and even more so by a Goshen Warriors team that took advantage of Hillsboro miscues to win by a 39-15 score Friday night.

The Hillsboro boys golf team earned a conference win on Tuesday — against the Chillicothe Cavaliers — by a score of 200-237 at the Hillsboro Elks.

The Hillsboro Indians earned their third win of the 2017 season Tuesday night, this time by defeating the host Washington Blue Lions by a 4-3 score for a Frontier Athletic Conference win.

The Hillsboro Indians continued from where they left off from last season, gaining a win in their 2017 season opener by defeating the visiting Western Brown Broncos, 55-34 at Richards Memorial Field.

The Hillsboro Indians boys golf team traveled to Washington CH on Thursday to face the Washington Blue Lions and Miami Trace Panthers in Frontier Athletic Conference play. After the conference match was complete, the Indians were third overall.

The Hillsboro Indians went from a two-win season to four wins in 2016, and this year, under head coach Jack O’Rourke for a second consecutive season, the program looks to continue that path in hopes of improving once again for this upcoming year.

Two-a-days are done, summer conditioning is over, scrimmages have been played and all that’s left are the games that count, and on Friday, Aug. 25 the Hillsboro Indians and the McClain Tigers open their 2017 football seasons with games at their home field in front of their hometown fans.

The Fairfield cross-country program, in both middle school and high school, took home the top honors Wednesday by sweeping the 2017 McClain Opener cross-country meet at Mitchell Park in Greenfield.
