With thanks and appreciation to area football coaches and their respective teams, the 2017 First and Ten High School Football Preview Edition presented by The Highland County Press is now available at select area stores and the newspaper office at 128 South High Street in Hillsboro. This is the eighth year for the publication.

As six local schools look forward to a new beginning in the inaugural season of the Frontier Athletic Conference, this year’s preview edition includes a detailed look at each of the FAC’s founding members – the Chillicothe Cavaliers, the Hillsboro Indians, the Jackson Ironmen, the McClain Tigers, the Miami Trace Panthers and the Washington Blue Lions.

Previews and schedules are also featured for a nearly 50-year-old local conference, the Scioto Valley Conference, which includes Adena, Huntington, Paint Valley, Piketon, Southeastern, Unioto, Westfall and Zane Trace.

The First and Ten edition also provides a reference guide to other conferences and leagues across southern Ohio, with information on their teams’ coaches, schedules for the upcoming season and records and standings from the previous season.

HCP Sports Editor Stephen Forsha appreciates the local coaches who have generously given their time, whether in person, via email or on the phone, to talk about their respective teams this preseason. The following websites also proved invaluable in gathering stats and information: SVCSportsZone.com, JoeEitel.com and MaxPreps.com.

We would also like to thank the outstanding area advertisers who contributed to this annual publication and make this preview possible every year. We encourage our readers to support their businesses.

Finally, we invite all high school football fans to visit our website, www.highlandcountypress.com, throughout the football season. There you will find up-to-date scores, standings and game recaps, updated every Friday night, along with columns and other commentary all season long. Thanks for reading!
