The Southwestern Ohio Council for Higher Education (SOCHE) recently recognized three Southern State Community College faculty members for excellence in teaching.

Cody Ayers, a fourth-grade student at Fairfield Elementary School, was recently recognized at their first nine weeks award ceremony. Cody received a 522, perfect score, on the Spring 2012 Math Ohio Achievement Assessment.

The 16th annual District 16 Honors Choir was held on Nov. 3. The students worked for weeks preparing the music. The choir was directed by Dr. Eva Floyd. The students practiced all day and then performed five songs in a concert that evening.

Lynchburg-Clay High School has announced their honor roll for the first grading period of the 2012-13 school year.

St. Mary Catholic School students recently participated in All Saints Day activities. The students had to research their saint, learn interesting facts and make a costume.

Highland County Junior Fair exhibitors planning to take a steer to the Highland County Fair in 2013 are reminded that the steer tagging weigh-in will be Saturday, Dec. 1 from 7-9 a.m. at the Union Stockyards in Hillsboro.

In a world where technology trumps all, schools often find themselves scrambling to keep up. Thanks to the support of local farmers and America’s Farmers Grow Rural Education℠, Clinton-Massie Local School District will have no trouble staying ahead of the curve. The school district has received a $10,000 grant to fund Clinton-Massie Robotics, a program that will provide students with hands-on, engaging math and science lessons.

The Southern State Community College Board of Trustees will meet 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, in Room 106 on the college's Central Campus, 100 Hobart Drive, Hillsboro.

The Lynchburg-Clay FFA Chapter and FFA Alumni will be hosting their Equipment Consignment Auction on Saturday, Nov. 17 at the Lynchburg –Clay High School starting at 10 a.m.
