UC Clermont College will hold a free on-campus Express Application Event Tuesday, Nov. 17.

During the event, the FFA members educated our elementary students about agriculture. A total of 45 FFA members and four adults assisted with the event. FFA members served as group leaders and led the elementary kids around to each station. Other FFA members served as teachers of the various entertaining and interactive stations.

MHSmart was created to help McClain students with needs like school supplies, clothing, funding and weekend meals. Recently, businesses, community members and staff have supported the cause by helping stock the food and clothes pantries and sending monetary contributions for other needs.

McClain students and staff welcomed two new teachers to its building this year, one being new to the Greenfield Exempted Village School District. Washington Court House resident Mark Bihl has joined the Tigers as an intervention specialist, co-teaching in algebra II and geometry classes.

Every year, a State FFA Officer comes to Hillsboro High School and talks to the ag classes. This year, Joe Helterbrand, the previous president of the Hillsboro FFA Chapter and currently the secretary of the Ohio FFA Association, met with Mr. Cummings’ Hillsboro FFA freshman class via Zoom.

Those driving around McClain High School may have noticed a smoother ride after the 100 block of Sixth Street received a much-needed makeover a few weeks ago. Rough areas in the street, caused by normal wear and tear of high traffic around the school, are now replaced with fresh asphalt and new curbs and gutters.

The Hillsboro FFA Chapter had their first meeting on Friday, Sept. 18.

On Oct. 4, 57 members of the McClain FFA chapter participated in the Greenhand Grill-Out that’s held for all first-year ag members. This event is an opportunity for these members to build a relationship with the officer team.

AMVETS Post 61 recently donated 36 backpacks to Greenfield Elementary School.
