Lynchburg-Clay inducted Wendy Martin and Laney Lewis into the Lynchburg-Clay Athletic Hall of Fame on Friday, Feb. 9 prior to the varsity boys basketball game.

On Hall of Fame night for the Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs, the home team put forth a strong effort, but lost in their Southern Hills Athletic Conference game to the visiting North Adams Green Devils, 57-41.

The Southeast District of the OHSAA announced Sunday afternoon the 2024 sectional/district brackets for boys basketball teams. 

Not only did the Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs secure their 16th win of the 2023-24 season Thursday night, they also guaranteed a second-place finish in Division I of the Southern Hills Athletic Conference. 

Lynchburg-Clay placed second in the Southern Hills Athletic Conference boys bowling tournament with a score of 7,170.

The Lynchburg-Clay girls bowling team won the 2023-24 Southern Hills Athletic Conference title with a cumulative score of 6,580.

A Roundball Reunion will be held Wednesday, March 13 at 6:30 p.m. at Wilmington College’s Kelly Center, in the McCoy Room on College Street in recognition of the 60th anniversary of the last Clinton and Highland County tournaments.

Though the Hillsboro Indians didn’t trail the entire game, and the score was tied once, the win was a battle for the visiting Indians as their Highland County showdown with the host Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs saw LCHS make the score close on more than one occasion. 

Going on the road Saturday night (Feb. 3), the Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs played a makeup game against a non-conference foe, the Westfall Mustangs, and though LC battled tough, they were outscored by nine points in the second half, resulting in a 55-51 loss. 

Thirteen times in the history of Lynchburg-Clay girls basketball, a player has scored at least 1,000 career points, but the 2023-24 season is a little different — historic, one might say — as three of the aforementioned 13 players have achieved that milestone moment this season, and to top it off, all three players are seniors. 

Some games just take a little longer than others, and Monday night for the Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs it took four extra minutes of in-game action to get past the tough Fayetteville Lady Rockets in their showdown, winning by a 55-52 score. 

Friday night (Feb. 2) the Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs defended their home court with a three-point win over the visiting West Union Dragons, winning by a 57-54 final score in their Southern Hills Athletic Conference game. 

Lynchburg-Clay senior Sarah McKinney recently signed a letter of intent to bowl at Shawnee State University, where she plans to major in education.
