Lady Indians drop FAC match to Jackson
Hosting the Jackson Ironladies on Tuesday, Sept. 30, the Hillsboro Lady Indians lost to the visiting team by a 3-1 score in Frontier Athletic Conference play at Hillsboro High School.
On the final day of September, the Lady Indians trailed JHS by a 2-1 score at halftime, and in the second half, the Ironladies outscored HHS 1-0 for the final 3-1 score.
Hillsboro’s goal was scored by Kobie Miles with the assist from Ella Jordan.
Jackson had all three goals scored by Sydney Carpenter for the hat trick. Two of her goals were assisted by Lillian Mapes, and one goal was unassisted.
Hillsboro keeper Phoebe Holland finished with five saves, and Jackson keeper Jaylynn Montgomery totaled seven saves.
Hillsboro now stands at 7-7-0 overall and 5-4 in the FAC standings. Jackson’s win lifts them to 7-5-1 overall and 6-2-1 in the FAC standings.

Indians shut out by Ironmen
The Hillsboro Indians hosted the Jackson Ironmen in boys soccer action on Tuesday evening, where they lost by a 4-0 score in the Frontier Athletic Conference matchup.
The Indians (2-3-2, 4-7-2) totaled six shots in the match.
At goal for the Indians was Owen Davis, finishing with six saves.

HHS volleyball defeats JHS
Tuesday evening was a big win for the Hillsboro Lady Indians volleyball program as they were the winners in three sets over the visiting Jackson Ironladies in Frontier Athletic Conference play at the Hillsboro High School Gym.
HHS won the conference match by sweeping three straight sets with scores of 25-14, 25-12 and 25-16.
Hillsboro’s win improves their overall record to 11-8 overall, and they currently sit at 3-5 in the FAC.
For HHS in kills — the team totaled 44 — Tylee Davis had 19 and Ryan Wagoner had 15, followed by Emmalee Young (five), Riley Pence (four) and Kayla Seeling (one).
HHS also had 13 aces, with the leaders being Wagoner and Pence, each with three. Seeling, Davis and Macy Fauber each had two aces, and with one was Young.
In the blocks category, it was Wagoner and Davis leading with one each, while in digs (HHS totaled 63 for the match) it was Davis leading with 21 and Wagoner with 16. Others with digs were Pence (four), Paisley Zink (two), Seeling (six), Allie Roush (five), Josie Rhoades (three), Marianne Mycroft (three) and Fauber (three).
The assist leader for HHS in the match was Seeling with 38, while Pence had two, Roush had one and Davis totaled two.
HHS now stands at 11-8 overall and 3-5 in the FAC.

Whiteoak gains win over Ripley
The Whiteoak soccer team gained a five-goal victory on Wednesday evening by defeating the host Ripley Lady Blue Jays by a 6-1 score at RHS.
The Wildcats earned the Southern Hills Athletic Conference victory with a hat trick by Christopher Wessner as he had three goals in the win. Abe Flader finished with two goals for WHS, and with one goal was Lucas Pollard.
Assists went to Keedan Antinore, Flader, Cody Richards and Rowan Roades with one each.
Whiteoak’s win improves them to 1-6-0 in the SHAC and 5-8-0 overall.

Lynchburg-Clay blanks Hillsboro
Having seven goals scored by three players, the Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs defended their home field on Wednesday by defeating the Hillsboro Indians by a 7-0 score for the shutout win at LCHS.
The Mustangs had a hat trick from Quin Wells with three goals, while teammates Elam Faust and Harley Lewis each scored two goals. Faust also finished with two assists.
At goal for LCHS was Tanner Roberts, while for HHS, Owen Davis totaled four saves. The Indians took a total of five shots in the match.
HHS now stands at 4-7-2 overall, and LCHS moves to 9-3-1.

Lady Lions fall to Portsmouth West
Traveling to face the Portsmouth West Lady Senators in non-conference play on Wednesday, the Fairfield Lady Lions lost to the hosts in four sets.
PWHS won set one at 25-22, and FHS followed with a set-two win at 25-21. The third and fourth sets were won by the Lady Senators at 25-17 and 25-15.
FHS now stands at 13-5 overall.

Lynchburg-Clay tops Whiteoak
In three sets on Wednesday, the Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs defeated WHS in SHAC action at WHS.
Lynchburg-Clay won by scores of 25-6, 25-11 and 25-5.
The Lady Mustangs totaled 28 kills, with the following players collecting the kills: Melany Stephenson (four), Addy Carraher (three), Bre Rosselott (seven), Mattie Magee (three), Halle Greene (four) and Kylie O’Connor (seven).
LCHS also totaled 17 aces with Avery Shope leading with seven, while the rest of the aces were made by Ava McLaughlin (three), Joslyn Rockey (three), Shope (seven), Greene (two) and Jules Vesey (two).
Leading in blocks were Magee and O’Connor with one each.
The Lady Mustangs also had 33 digs as Rockey led with seven, and the remaining digs were collected by McLaughlin (two), Stephenson (five), Carraher (four), Shope (five), Greene (two), O’Connor (three) and Vesey (five).
The assists leader was McLaughlin with 12, while Carraher totaled seven, Rockey had three, and with two each were Magee and Vesey.
LCHS improves to 13-5 overall and 8-2 in the SHAC. WHS is now 1-10 in the SHAC and 1-14 overall.
