The University of Oregon women’s basketball team announced Wednesday that former Lynchburg-Clay standout Peyton Scott is out for the season following an injury in her regular-season debut with the Oregon Ducks.
The Southern Hills Athletic Conference honored the 2023 SHAC Boys Soccer Players and Coaches of the Year, as there were co-winners selected for both awards.
The finale of the 2023 Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs season came Saturday afternoon when they lost for the first time this season, dropping their Division III Regional Final game to the reigning Div. III state champions, the Cincinnati Country Day School Lady Nighthawks, 6-0 at Herrnstein Field.
It wasn’t easy for the Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs and Fairfield Lady Lions, who battled cold and windy conditions, plus a quick sprinkle of snow on Halloween night, Tuesday, Oct. 31, in their Division III Regional Final game.
The Southeast District Coaches Association named 18 Highland County athletes to the 2023 All-District boys soccer team, along with an assistant coach receiving honors in Division III.
The Southeast District Coaches Association this week announced the 2023 All-District girls soccer teams, with Highland County having 20 players selected as well as the Player of the Year, Coach of the Year and Assistant Coach of the Year for Division III.
Highland County is guaranteed one team in the Division III regional championship game this Saturday, but which team that will be has yet to be decided. For the first time ever, Highland County had two district champions in Division III in the same year, meaning the Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs and the Fairfield Lady Lions will be facing each other on Tuesday, Oct. 31 with the winner advancing to the Elite Eight.
The Ohio High School Athletic Association has announced the qualifiers for this week’s cross-country state championships and the pairings for the field hockey state tournament, in addition to the regional tournament pairings in volleyball and soccer.
One Highland County team and six individual runners raced at the OHSAA Division II and Division III Regional Meet at Pickerington North High School Saturday, with Whiteoak’s Landen Eyre winning a regional title and teammate Weston Blair and Hillsboro’s Corbin Winkle also advancing to the 2023 OHSAA Cross-Country State Championships.
The more things change, the more they stay the same, and in the case of the Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs on Thursday night in their Division III SE District Final game against the North Adams Lady Green Devils, it was more of things staying the same.
