With one weekend in the 2016-17 high school sports season left on the schedule, there are 15 athletes from Highland County still remaining in the track and field season, with them competing in the 2017 Division II and III OHSAA State Track and Field Championships in Columbus at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.

Running in front of a few thousand track and field fans is nothing new to the Fairfield Lions 4x800-meter relay team, which consists of senior Trent Swisher, juniors Matthew Mangus and Noah Richmond and sophomore Brandtson Duffie. In fact, they relish taking part on the big stage with all four runners returning to the OHSAA Division III State Track and Field Championships for a second consecutive year.

Four years of patience, perseverance and practice have landed Fairfield junior Blake Adams in Columbus this upcoming weekend, competing in the Division III OHSAA Track and Field Championships in the girls shot put event against 15 others in the top state event of the season.
