On Saturday morning, the original tournament began as Nate Keiser, the first great- grandson of Dick Shaffer, whom Shaffer Park is named after, tossed out the ceremonial first pitch before the Clark Dentistry and Scioto Valley Vipers began the 12U tournament on Dan W. Reed Field.

The next few months for the McClain boys soccer program will be filled with a variety of emotions with the passing of former coach Shawn Jackson, but the man chosen to lead the Tiger program is a familiar face, a friend of Jackson and one who has been a part of the ups and downs with the Tigers for nearly a decade. Jon Chamblin (McClain '87), who has been an assistant boys soccer coach the previous eight seasons, is now the leader of the three-time South Central Ohio League champion Tigers.

The McClain High School boys and girls cross country team and Greenfield Middle School cross country team will have a meeting on Thursday July 26, at 1 p.m. in the high school gym.

Matt Wells will take the helm as the new head coach of women’s basketball at Southern State Community College. Wells is a veteran on the court, with coaching credentials at Mt.
