Steagall producing in junior season

Bluffton University junior and Hillsboro High School graduate Airic Steagall currently is in the middle of his junior football season, where the Beavers are 3-2 overall and 2-1 in the HCAC.

In five games this season, Steagall has totaled 327 yards rushing on 64 carries and two touchdowns. Steagall also has nine receptions for 98 yards.

In the first game of the season against Kenyon, Steagall had 15 carries for 76 yards and four catches for 46 yards in a 20-0 victory.

The following week at Baldwin Wallace, the Beavers lost 45-13, where Steagall had three rushes for five yards and one catch for five yards.

In their third game of the season at Earlham, the Beavers won 28-20 with Steagall totaling 88 yards rushing (14 carries) and grabbing one catch for 20 yards.

Versus Mount Saint Joseph, the junior running back totaled 81 yards on the ground with two touchdowns on 17 carries and caught two passes for 16 yards in a 14-7 win for the Beavers.

In the their most recent game this past Saturday vs. Manchester, the Beavers lost 24-14 where Steagall rushed for 77 yards on 15 carries, while recording one catch for 11 yards.

Steagall is a Sports Management major. Last season (his sophomore season) Steagall led the Beavers in rushing with 668 yards, with four touchdowns on 190 attempts in 10 games. He also had 12 receptions for 259 yards as a sophomore.

The 3-2 Beavers travel to Rose-Hulman on Saturday, Oct. 6 at 1:30 p.m.
